Request a Certificate of Good Standing

Request a Certificate of Good Standing confirming your membership in the bar of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Requests are submitted electronically through CM/ECF.

Effective June 24, 2019, the Fifth Circuit no longer accepts paper requests. All requests for Certificates of Good Standing must be submitted electronically, following the steps below.

How to Request

  1. Log in to CM/ECF. If you do not already have a CM/ECF e-filer account, you must register for one through PACER.
  2. From the Utilities menu, select Request Documents, then Certificate of Good Standing.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to upload any documents and submit payment at Pacer.gov.
  4. Upon successful completion of the payment process, a notice is automatically generated to the Fifth Circuit to fulfill your request.
  5. The Certificate of Good Standing will be sent to the email address on file in your CM/ECF e-filer account.

Certificates of Good Standing normally take one to two business days to process after a request is received.
