Renewal
Members of the Fifth Circuit Bar must renew their membership every five years. Renewals are submitted electronically through CM/ECF and paid through PACER.
Effective June 24, 2019, the Fifth Circuit no longer accepts paper renewals. All bar renewals must be submitted electronically, following the steps below.
Renewal Notices
Renewal notices are sent by email to the primary email address on file with the court. Attorneys are responsible for keeping their primary email and mailing address up to date so notices arrive accurately and on time.
To keep renewal notices out of your spam or junk folder, add the sender barrenewals@ca5.uscourts.gov to your contacts.
How to Renew
Renewal fees are paid electronically through PACER, so you'll need an active electronic-filer account. New to e-filing? Register through the PACER Service Center. Already registered? Review and update your account so notices reach you.
- Log in to CM/ECF. If you do not already have a CM/ECF e-filer account, you must register for one through PACER.
- From the Utilities menu in CM/ECF, select Bar Renewal and follow the on-screen instructions.
- CM/ECF will automatically direct you to PACER's online payment process. Fees may be paid by credit card, debit card, or electronic check.
- Upon successful completion of the payment process, a notice is automatically generated to the Fifth Circuit to process your renewal.
