1 Notice to Customers Presenting Checks

When you provide a check as payment, you authorize us either to use information from your check to make a one-time electronic fund transfer from your account, or to process the payment as a check transaction. For inquiries, please call (504)310-7805.

Privacy Act – A Privacy Act Statement required by 5 U.S.C. § 552a(e)(3) stating our authority for soliciting and collecting the information from your check, and explaining the purposes and routine uses which will be made of your check information, is available at (http://www.fms.treas.gov/otcnet/index.html), or call toll free at (1-866-945-7920) to obtain a copy by mail. Furnishing the check information is voluntary, but a decision not to do so may require you to make payment by some other method.

Remotely
The public can print copies of electronic documents via PACER at a cost of $0.10 per page. The cost to access a single document is capped at $2.40, the equivalent of 24 pages. The cap does not apply to name searches, reports that are not case-specific and transcripts of federal court proceedings. By Judicial Conference policy, if your usage does not exceed $15 in a quarter, fees for that quarter are waived, effectively making the service free for most users. PACER is available to anyone who registers for an account.  Please go to http://www.pacer.gov to register.

In Person
You may come to the court and request copies of electronic documents at a cost of $0.50 per page. We accept cash, credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express), checks, travelers checks, or money orders made payable to Clerk, U.S. Courts.

Written Request
You may mail a written request and a photocopy fee of $0.50 per page in the form of a check, travelers check, or money order made payable to Clerk, U.S. Courts. Please include the case name, case number, and the title of the documents which you wish to have photocopied. In addition, please include your name, address, and telephone number. Mail your request to Clerk's Office USCA, Mail Remittance, 600 S. Maestri Pl., New Orleans, LA 70130 with a self-addressed stamped envelope.

Obtaining Page Counts
If you wish to obtain photocopies of court documents, but do not know the number of pages, call (504)310-7700. Please have the case number, case title, and description of document ready when you call. A member of the Clerk's office will give you a page count and postage estimate* for your self-addressed stamped envelope. The Clerk's office will not fax or e-mail copies to requesting parties.
